The Chamber is a strong supporter of local business, organizations and the community. Community events sponsored by the Chamber include Citizen/Business of the Year Awards, Thursday Cruise Nights, Annual Sidewalk Sale/Duck Race, Community Christmas, Midday concert series in Russell Park and the Super Cruise & Craft Show. The Chamber also publishes the very popular Akron-Newstead Telephone Directory.

2014 Chamber projects included new Christmas lights over Main Street, Moonlight Holiday Shopping (free horse drawn carriage rides, music and refreshments) and flower baskets along Main Street. In addition, the Chamber sponsors several organizations, including the Historical Society & the Celebration Committee.

The 2015 membership rates are as follows:
Non-Profit - $50 per year
Family or 1- 9 employees - $80 per year
10 or more employees - $160 per year
